i was looking for some old works some weeks ago and found there were some i had never uploaded (as most of the things I do) but now I felt like showing these. these are school works, studies of values, colours, and who knows what, in tempera or acrylics.

paintings from some years ago

The waiting.
The varnish and the lights in my studio together with a low-quality cellphone cam,
makes it difficult to take a decent pic. Though in some way i think it enhances the real painting hehe.

life studies 2 (3x3)
These are quick poses, which the model repeats several times then one can keep on working once he's in the pose again. i did two different ones, and these was another one of these from some time ago, but i think i haven't uploaded it... not sure now...
I just found it in the PC, this one was done in july but we had to give up a few minutes after we had started to draw/paint. i had used a gouache wash then.

two collages after known paintings (still in progress)
i decided to make some studies of paintings, in this case one by spanish Ramón Casas and the other by the genious Georges P. Seurat. Of course my compositions varied a lot from the originals, but i didn't dedicate as much time as I should have, what i mean is that there are many differences in negative spaces, directions and proportions, but it was cause started making a rough sketch with an oil pastel and begun collecting and pasting coloured papers, and didn't come back to the originals to review all that, just to compare some colours and work lightly on the shapes.
will try to pay more attention to that in the following studies, anyway these two are still in progress so maybe i'll make some arrangements... something i don't like at all is the missing part of the kid at the bottom-right in the collage after Seurat's painting, since it was cut in the book i used as reference...

selfportrait
me in front of the mirror again. this time painting. i am more a drawer than a painter though this time i started without a previous drawing, not even with the brush. i just started filling spaces with painting and just that, tried to observe shapes with similar colours and values, though i used a strange palette, i mean not the real ones but with a grayish one. it's three in the morning now, i should take a better photo during the daylight i know, anyway...

selfportrait
a new mirror + me alone at the studio= self portrait. only an hour to do it. the ressults are at sight. when i come back i'll need to retouch some parts. mouth, eyebrows, nose, chin, ears, hair, cheeks, shoulders, clothing, background, and... i think some white gesso throughout the surface would do perfectly, two layers will be enough, mmm, 3 perhaps...?

puzzle selfportrait
a selfpotrait. a puzzle. mixed media on wood. pencil. acrylics. digital. i like to combine handcraft with digital media. later i will post the portrait as i still want to do some details, but i liked how this looks like this. sometimes i need to see how it looks in the computer, digitally retouch to later try it on the real one.
could this be EDM challenge #56 - Draw a self portrait? I don't think so. I'll complete that challenge later.

painting - from sketch
today I worked with live model for the first time in my studio, together with my partner and a friend. After they all left I started this painting on heavy brown paper with acrylics then oil. I still have to finish some details and even darken it all, here I've darkened it a little digitally so this is how it's should look after that dark layer.
