after so many crazy stuff I always need to back to "more realistic" works,
in this case I was trying some new paper I just bought and came across this
image from a book.
charcoal on paper, kneaded eraser and fingers. about 45x65 cm.

rough sketch in oil

I made this quick sketch in oil on a very thin and cheap paper I had used yesterday to make a 5 min sketch on charcoal during a life class, as still some lines remain. while quickly covering the surface in oil I also covered one finger (had you realized?) which I should "pinkily" add again, and also  now seeing the pic on cell screen, i notice how odd the vase looks like, so I have to correct that too but I guess it's part because of the low light when i took the photo. maybe i'll take it into a bigger composition, who knows. I only used B and W + little blue and magenta.

A draft made with an old & worn out marker, over a cardboard on which I had
pasted some pieces of newspaper. Later I applied temperas with a piece of
wood like a painter's knife. I chose cyan yellow and magenta, but only the
first is pure. Also used some white tempera. I added charcoal lines at the
end.

can't find myself in my drawings

i keep looking at myself in the mirror, but I can't completely find me in my drawings... hahaha.

the thing is that there are always some details i miss while drawing that i realize after i finished it, eyes too close or separated, bigger/smaller eyebrows, slant mouth, smaller nose, hahahaha. i'll keep on looking till i can get it right. maybe that's what's really interesting about art, if we could do exactly what we plan or want, maybe it wouldn't be so wonderfully exciting as art is!

The funniest about this drawing i did today is that it looks better (more similar) when it's bigger, which is the contrary as they always look better when I see them smaller on the pc screen.

today a new skecth contest was held.

this time at the planetarium. i got a special mention for this one. i made it in about 25 minutes. 35x50cm - charcoal on coloured paper.
